VALENTI SS19: Vintage, contemporary, cool
A young talent to keep an eye on
October 17th, 2018
Determined. Proud. Vintage. Italian. Gorgeous. The women of Nicole Valenti, young designer of VALENTI, are like the female figures of her family, the perfect ones even with the heart torn, fully dressed to go and get their children to school and at Sunday Mass. The debut collection, Oh Mother, is a lightning success, thanks to its going against the current, proposing not the usual eye-catching streetstyle, but an aesthetic with an old heart with its head anchored in the present, animated by an ironic mash-up between the bourgeoisie of the filmography of the Vanzina brothers and the decadent aristocracy of the last century. For the SS19, Marina Ripa Di Meana, Carol Alt, Cindy Crawford, Gia Carangi and the eighties vibrations and the Italian taste let French touch nuances filter, poised between the end of the 70s and the beginning of the following decade. If art, music and cinema are the inspirations of every look, the chemisier, the tartan suits, the micro dresses and the pied de poule motifs tell of the shots of Max Pierissi, of the creations of YSL, Valentino, Raffaela Curiel, the live Patty Pravo and France Gall. Vintage, contemporary, personal. What do you want more from a young brand?
