Britishness to the next level
July 9th, 2018
“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself, and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something,” said Tisci in a release. “She is a rebel, a punk, and unrivaled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together”.
With these words, accompanied by a black and white picture shot by Brett Lloyd in which he is together with Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler, Riccardo Tisci announced through his Instagram profile the surprise collaboration with the iconic designer.
A Burberry press release reveals that the limited edition collection, a true celebration of British style and heritage, will contain a contemporary reworking of iconic punk era pieces.
"It’s a one-off project, destined to come out in early December. It’s a capsule collection, and still a work in progress. In effect, a tiny wardrobe, Westwood for Burberry" - said Kronthaler, adding - "Riccardo is really working hard to get his first Burberry collection together. He is very talented and I believe in this Brexit days this project shows everyone how fashion should and has to be".
The capsule is set to release in early December and part of its proceeds will be donated to Cool Hearth, a no-profit association that deals with climate change and fights for the protection of the forests.
