Raf Simons launches Calvin Klein's Pre-Fall 2018 collection 205W39NYC
plus a new archive- store in Tokyo
May 18th, 2018
This week Raf Simons offers us the chance to see all his talent and the evolution of his style thanks to the launch of the Calvin Klein 205W39NYC Pre-Fall 2018 collection and the opening of an archive space in Tokyo.
With this latest work for CK, the Belgian designer continues to explore the concept of "New Americana" and the collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation.
In the advertising campaign taken by Willy Vanderperre the models Julia Nobis, Mica Arganaraz, Alec Pollentier and Ernesto Cervantes shows us an eclectic collection, in which utilitarianism is in dialogue with contemporary culture thanks to the presence of Warhol's work. A homage not only on the set (in the background we can recognize "Big Electric Chair" and an image of the "Car Crash" series) but also in the use of the iconic pop florals and in the graphic representations of the American flag. The "New American" touch is enhanced by a partnership with the Heritage Pendleton brand Woolen Mills, which again comes into play in wool garments with bold graphics and details inspired by the Cowichan inlays that coexist with metallic shoulder bags and retro striped leggings.
The other project that Simons occupies in this period is the launch of an archive space dedicated to his 90s creations, in the basement of Fake Tokyo.
The Japanese store, just renovated, goes beyond the "RS ARCHIVES" concept, and will host on its first floor a multi-brand selection including Gosha Rubchinsky and SIRLOIN; while on the second floor will house the new concept space "CANDY" that will mix the fashion labels with other projects with a vast selection of books from the IDEA in London.
