Felipe Oliveira Baptista leaves Lacoste
Will the crocodile brand refocus on its sporting roots?
May 3rd, 2018
After 8 years, the streets of Felipe Oliveira Baptista and Lacoste are divided.
The Portuguese designer leaves the French brand to devote himself to new projects. Creative director since August 2010, he has strongly contributed to the creative and commercial development of the label reinterpreting his stylistic codes and his heritage, increasing also the revenues that have gone from about 1 billion euros in 2009 to over 2 billion in 2016.
Thus, a new era opens for Lacoste.
It seems that, together with the collaboration with Supreme and the opening of new stores, this change at the creative top is part of a strategy focused on the return of the brand to a relaxed elegance closer to the world of sport.
We could verify this hypothesis already in September during the PFW, when the next SS19 collection designed by the style office will be presented, but even better in the coming months, when the successor of Oliveira Baptista will be announced.
