Interview with Tabasko Sweet

If you haven’t heard of Tabasko Sweet yet, there's something wrong.

The American vlogger has, in fact, invaded the web with his brilliant Cheap Thrills, proposing economic and fun solutions to replicate the most hype items of the moment.

His weekly series on the Super Deluxe Youtube channel boasts more than 30 episodes, in which Tabasko realizes a cheap version of Gucci Sandals with colored adhesive tape, Off-White Industrial Belt, and Yeezy Desert Rat 500 so perfect that even Kanye West could hardly to recognize the differences.

But that's not all: Tabasko Sweet is against the strongly rooted sexism in the streetwear world, encouraging its members to respect women, and especially mothers.

We had a Skype call with Tabasko about how is the full-time Youtuber profession and how difficult it is to keep up with the new hype trends.

#1 How did it all start and how is the youtuber full-time job?

I started because my friend Michela is director of Super Deluxe and she hit me up for hosting a series that she created and I thought that it was a pretty cool idea, so I just start filming video of me like an audition, pretty much, in the bathroom of the coffee shop I was working at the time. It’s a cool full-time job it’s really fun, I became really good friends whit every one of my crew, and I have known people from around the world.

#2 How did you get the idea of making your own Cheap Thrills?

Michaela approached me with the show concept and I thought that it was a really good idea. I born and raised in LA and there is a lot of hypebeast down here. That’s a kind like ridiculous that people pay so much for these items. So when she came to me with this idea of make the clothes I thought that a was a really cool idea. Especially cause I was involved in DIY music scene located here in LA, until that I never thought about doing something in something like fashion. 

#3 To have the coolest clothes of the moment your Cheap Thrills are a great solution.  Do you have any other trick to always be fresh?

I don’t know, I think that smelling good is always a good thing. Be delighted when you walk in a room, it’s just all about attitude, just being respectful with people.

#4 Do you usually get images from people who make your own creations?

Yes, there is a lot of people send me pictures in DM, or tag me on Instagram. It awesome in order that I make an impact on a person that motivates her/him to create his/her own Supreme t-shirt

#5 Any clues about the next object you will make?

I just created an inspired Quavo QC chain but with my initials TS!

#6 Would you make a Cheap Thrills on the fly for us?

I went to the see Adam Sandler last night so I’m pretty tired, but today we’ll drop a new Gucci bag, so go check my last video!
