Not(e) for a Dreamer: how a short film becomes poetry
The latest film directed by Enrico Poli is a tribute to youth
March 20th, 2018
Sometimes to tell a love story you do not need many words, just listen a sweet melody of a violin, observe the image of two people running barefoot among the dry leaves or simply identify yourself in the depths of a broken sigh.
All this has been caught in Not(e) for a Dreamer, the latest film directed by Enrico Poli and produced by White Coat. It is a short film-romance that comes to life in Greve in Chianti, in the hypnotic Italian landscape, characterized by nature, green trees, small streets and moments of silence, instants in which everything stops and suddenly, like magic or curse, we find ourselves adults. The transition from pure childhood to adulthood is perfectly presented by the director through a succession of episodes experienced in first person by two young lovers.
What makes Not(e) for a Dreamer special is the look that is given to it, the protagonists, their retro touch, the soft lights that embrace the scene, all this transforms a short film into a poem whose metric is punctuated by notes composed by Mahlon Berv.
Enrico Poli was awarded during the Milan Fashion Film Festival 2017 in the Best New Italian Fashion Film category, and now with this latest film he reaches his third collaboration with Italian fashion label M O N O - Y.
