By Juergen Teller for the 10 issue of “System” Magazine
November 20th, 2017
Now Virgil Abloh is no longer a mere designer.
He’s a real celebrity followed by paparazzi and magazines.
Indeed, “System” Magazine, a publishing product famous for its concise and dynamic reports, dedicates to him the whole 10 issue (66 pages) and four different covers entitled What is Virgil Abloh?.
For this occasion the photographer Juergen Teller has followed the founder of Off-White around the world, through New York, Sao Paulo, Los Angeles, Stockholm, Paris, Milan and Amsterdam, to document a cross-section of human life, the meeting with two of his inspiration as the art curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and architect Rem Koolhaas, but, above all, the upcoming collaboration with IKEA.
In the pictures we find some of the products of this partnership that will include living room categories, bedding, tables, lighting and storage: a red carpet with the word 'Blue', a gray carpet with the 'Get off' the sketch of a ceiling lighting system.
