Interview with Sofia Richie
We've met the young American model in Milan, on the occasion of the launch of the new adidas INIKI burgundy
October 18th, 2017
Sofia Richie is a young girl full of dreams and fulll of talent. Being the daughter of a worldwide known artist like Lionel Richie, she grew up under the public eye but, nevertheless, the person we met at the INIKI ALL ACCESS event is a girl who knows crystal clear who she is and what she wants to achieve.
Extremely determined and a real hard worker, we've chatted with Sofia Richie about her partnership with adidas and FootLocker for the new adidas INIKI sneaker, a model that wants to blend the best of past and future.
Here's what happened.
#1 Hi Sofia, now you’re the testimonial of FootLocker for the launch of the adidas INIKI, a model that wants to blend past and future, how does this make you feel?
It’s so exciting considering that I grow up in FootLocker… and with adidas! It’s a very overwhelming experience for me.
#2 Tell us: how did this collaboration come into being?
Well. I’ve had this very good connection with adidas for a long time and, I guess four years ago, they noticed I was wearing their brand, their shoes and apparel, and slowly, over the years, we started building a relationship. At a point, they told me they’d really love to work together and that they have this cool shoe they thought I would have been perfect for and well, it was! That’s how it all started.
#3 What excited you the most about the whole project?
The opportunity to have control. They wanted to know my opinion, to truly be involved in the project. Sometimes when you work with brands they give you strictly guidelines “this is what we’re doing, this is the product, this is what you have to do” while with adidas, they involve me fully. They were really interested in which were my thoughts were the shoe and the project… and that’s how the burgundy came into being.
#4 Let’s talk about the sneaker: what’s the thing you love the most about the adidas INIKI and why, according to you, is it a model perfect for the new generations?
The new generation is very into streetwear and half of this is because of the comfort. Wearing sweatpants in the streets is cool now and this shoe perfectly matches contemporary taste: it’s light, it’s airy and comfortable and it does look cool. You can use the INIKI both for workout and for daily life, you can go to the gym and then straight walk out and wearing a shoe that’s perfect for whatever your plans are after that.
It’s a sneaker that’s hard to compare to anything else, its silhouette it’s retro but it’s technology is super modern, is a one-piece shoe that you can wear easily and always be ready for everything.
#5 What are your plans for the future? What should we be expecting to happen?
A fashion line! I hope to be a fashion designer and I’m working hard towards it… to stay in the business.
