Louis Vuitton SS18: in balance between past and future Among 18th-century fashion and the most beloved American television series of the last few years

Louis Vuitton closes Paris Women's Fashion Week presenting an SS18 collection that is in balance between past and future, history and modernity that fits among the 18th-century fashion and the most beloved American television series of the last few years.

Nicolas Ghesquière back again to the Louvre Museum, also the location Louis Vuitton FW17 collection, but this time choose the Sully Wing, the medieval part of the museum, to the Grand Egyptian sphinx, where in contrast to this historic atmosphere, there is the hi-tech touch of the light walkway and metal seats that host Cate Blanchett, Michelle Williams, Alicia Vikander, Julianne Moore and many other stars.

With the SS18 collection Louis Vuitton blends past and present, antique and modern, historic and sporty, dualism that animates every garment created by Ghesquière and is perfectly embodied by the first look rising on the catwalk: eighteenth-century redingote brocade with floral embroidery and silver inserts combined with silk shirts with puffy sleeves that leaves the naked belly, pastel-colored silk shorts and sneakers with a ‘90s spindly silhouettes.

"Exploring how to incorporate costumes into modern fashion, into an urban wardrobe. Anachronism with a hint of romanticism" - explained the designer, adding - "So, I enjoyed mixing that flamboyance into the sports clothes that are in everyone’s wardrobe today. I like women wearing sneakers with an extreme look, like these French and English menswear coats".

The collection hourglass-shaped dresses, in black PVC, silver or striped; baroque vests; floral and floating dresses or mini and silver; cigarette pants and rock’n roll t-shirts.

The garment destined to become a cult? The tee tribute to the Netflix series Stranger Things.
