Supreme x Louis Vuitton cancels its pop up store in the States
Residents' protests beat the coolest collaboration of 2017
July 12th, 2017
Did you take a flight to the States just to have a piece of the now legendary Supreme x Louis Vuitton?
I’m sorry for you.
Forget the pop stores scheduled for this Friday, July 14, because their openings have been deleted and you do not plan to buy online since even that release shares the same grim fate.
In an e-mail message, the LV brand’s customer services have confirmed that
"the collaboration will no longer be sold in any stores or online”,
leaving hundreds of fans in disrepair.
The reason? Apparently, residents’ dissent.
Already in May, the municipal council of Manhattan no. 2 denied Supreme its planned position on Bond Street, fearing that the streetwear brand would cause disorder and chaos in NYC.
In particular, the authorities added that Supreme did not “articulate how this product launch will benefit the community in any way” and did not even have presented an effective management plan for the situation, ignoring problems such as access to their homes for residents of Bond Street, how to prevent customers sleeping on the sidewalk or where this multitude of customers would find a bathroom to use.
Result? Farewell pop up stores of Louis Vuitton x Supreme in the U.S.
