The news was given to employees on Wednesday morning and subsequently announced to the public this morning, through a long and moving post on the official colette account and website.
"As all good things must come to an end, after 20 wonderful years, Colette should be closing its doors on Dec. 20 of this year. Until our last day, nothing will change. Colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website colette.fr "
The announcement by Sarah Andelman, creative director and public voice of the boutique, surprised everyone, especially because behind the decision to close the shop at 213 rue Saint-Honoré there's the desire of Colette Roussaux, mother of Andelman and founder of Colette, to retire and, as the creative director states,
In the same post, Andelman added that there is a dealing with Saint Laurent - with whom in 2013 they had controversy due to the parody line launched by colette "It's Not Laurent Without Yves" - to retire the historic location of the store.
“We would be proud to have a brand with such a history, with whom we have frequently collaborated, taking over our address. We are happy of the serious interest expressed by Saint Laurent in this project, and it could also represent a very good opportunity for our employees”.
We still do not know if the closure of the physical store will coincide with the closure of the web store; stay tuned on nss magazine for further updates.
