Gucci realizes the limited edition book “Hortus Sanitatis”

Gucci announces the release of a new limited edition book. It’s called “Hortus Sanitatis”, is “The health Garden”, and takes its name from the first natural history encyclopedia, published in Mainz, Germany in 1485.
Inside, it encloses the images taken by photographer Derek Ridgers of models, dressed in garments and accessories from the Gucci PreFall17 collection, in the company of animals like cats and snakes. In the background Roman historians evocative environments such as ancient library Cascianelli, an old pharmacy of Santa Maria Della Scala, library Angelica.
“Hortus Sanitatis”, distributed by the independent English publisher Idea, the same as Gucci's 2016 book “Epiphany”, will be on sale, only 1,000 copies, from Wednesday, July 5 at 85 euros and will be presented at a book signing event that will be held the same night at COMME des GARÇONS Trading Museum at 54 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris .
A plus? The precious packaging: cover with gold leaf details, gold-plated pages and red cotton trim decorated with a skull and crossed tibias.
