Balenciaga's SS18 Menswear ode to paternity
The 5 best moments of the French maison's fashion show
June 22nd, 2017
Yesterday, in the middle of a charming park in Paris, some very fashionable fathers walked their children; while others preferred to bend their bicycle for a pedal under the fringes of the trees. It would seem absurd, but all this took place during the fashion show of the Balenciaga SS18 Menswear.
The fashion show for the Parisian maison's men collection, the second since Demna Gvasalia launched the line, has been a succession of twists and exits that have conquered the public and criticism. The collection is a tribute to paternity and outerwear, the freetime-wear to boast during a late afternoon walk in the city or for unpretentious sporting activities in the park. All of this, of course, interpreted by Demna Gvasalia's creative eye, which once again has made an eye-catching and trendy collection.
Now, you just have to know every detail of Balenciaga's SS18 fashion show and here are the 5 salient moments.
#1 The Location
As we said, the fashion show took place in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne park in Paris. The audience was completely immersed in a bucolic atmosphere, while models in raincoats and long trenches walked calmy in the shade of the bushy tree crowns. All this to underlines the fil rouge of the collection, that is a practical and casual clothing, suitable for everyday life in the open air.
#2 Children
"There's nothing more beautiful than seeing young dads with their kids,"
said Demna Gvasalia, speaking of his latest collection. And then, children of all ages accompanied the model during the fashion show, someone hand in hand of their putative dads and someone brought in their arms.
A curiosity? Actual familes walked the runway!
#3 Accessories
Not just children, but also another appearance has attracted the attention of all of us: bicycles. In fact, some models have walked "alongside" some branded-Balenciaga mountain bikes, which will be exclusively available at Colette.
#4 Special guest
Even the front row was no less "surprising" than the fashion show. Among the guests, Kyle MacLachlan aka the Special Agent Dale Cooper of Twin Peaks has also appeared.
#5 Trend Alert
Demna Gvasalia has maybe launched a new trend that could become the next obsession of fashion victims, namely the shirt worn as a "scarf" on the head. Will the streetwear fashionistas adopt this solution to shelter themselves from a sudden thunderstorm?
