From March 10th to 12th, 2017
March 10th, 2017
Women are every day more involved in the sneaker game. It's a matter of fact. Female audience has been left behind by the industry for too long, but women have now the best-growing market share; and are also growing educated and passionate about sneakers. On March 8th the world celebrates the International Women's Day and the best part of sneakers dropping this week are dedicated to women and was meant to underline the importance of this celebration.
What you will see below is a showcase of how the industry taste for women's for sneakers has changed drastically in few years. No more "Feminine" designs and colorways. Everything has been replaced by strong and elegant shapes with special attention to details and textures. If we can take this as a metaphor so it's definitely a good way to pay homage to women all over the world.
#1 Nike Air Max Jewell
When Air Max day and International Women's Day celebrations unite. The Air Max Jewell is the second women-only AM model ever made. This silhouette, inspired by the infamous Air Max Plus is about to bring AM design straight into the future. The Sci-Fi resembling the shape and the selected technical materials make the AM Jewell really far from what one should expect from a women-only release, but definitely, everyone would love this.
Release Information: will be available at Nike from March 8th.
#2 Nike Flyknit Racer "Goddess"
In order to celebrate women, Nike decides to tap into their Greek mythology background. This time the swoosh pays homage to the Greek Goddess of Victory, the symbol of women's strength and determination. This is also the first time Flyknit Racer has been made in the triple white colorway. The midsole receives a special sail treatment to avoid spots and scratches.
Release Information: will be available at Nike from March 8th.
#3 adidas "Deep Hue" Samba sneakers pack
The sneaker isn't just for men. adidas wants to represent strongly how sneakers have now become a way of life for more and more women. They want to reject every "feminine" sneaker stereotype and position themselves away from that straight forward thinking about sneakers for women. So they chose to release this new Samba sneaker pack in 3 strong colorways: Deep Green, Purple, and Off-White. The shoe is meant to celebrate not only the women related to the sneaker culture but the whole women movement. The shoe in premium suede features special threaded 3-stripes detailing and embossed "samba lettering". The shoe will be available in every adidas Consortium store.
Release Information: will be available at adidas from March 8th.
#4 Fenty Puma by Rihanna "Bow" sneakers
Puma and Rihanna are keeping it bold when it comes to design sneakers. These new "Bow" sneakers feature a really loud design and highly eye-catching details. The shoe, similar to the classic R698, have a silly satin upper with an oversized ribbon on the top of it. This is maybe meant to be an intentional exaggeration of feminine stereotypes in order to reject them and make something new. The sneakers will be available in pink and camo green that also states another premeditated contradiction. It seems that there is way more behind these sneakers than what it seems.
Release Information: will be available at Puma from March 9th.
