Y-3 x SpaceX
Clemente Fernandes designs sneakers for Mars
March 9th, 2017
While last week, Elon Musk announced that its aerospace company SpaceX will send in 2018 two tourists on a trip around the moon, Clemente Fernandes was planning the perfect shoe to wear on Mars. The Y-3 x SpaceX is a silver sneaker with an upper made of nylon combined with carbon nanotubes, which, when the body heats up are activated to adjust to the shape of your foot. The outer sole is equipped with a multi-density EVA structure: the cleats part is softer to provide more cushioning on red planet stony ground and the rubber elements on the back strengthen the structure of the upper, proofing the sneaker for sandstorms and temperatures of 52 degrees. The sneaker is not yet available for pre-order, but if you're leaving for space, better put a few in your suitcase!
