March 7th, 2017
More than a short film, a frank gaze on Russian youth culture, the "post-Soviet" one, which, lately in the West has become a synonym for a fashionable trend, but it is also and above all a lived reality. This is Apart, a nine-minute film directed by Papaya Dog on the life of three young guys who are preparing for Gosha Rubchinskiy FW17 fashion show, browsing through fashion about what it means to be a young man in Russia today. The stars of this video project are Ivan Shemyakin, of Divnogorsk, in Siberia, which occupies the time exploring abandoned buildings and brought to his city; Andrey, a Kasnodor sixteen-year-old who spends his days carrying out walking his dog and Kirill Krasnov, a graffiti artist from Kaliningrad. The three talk about their aspirations, their dreams, the places where they live, sipping tea, look out the windows to admire Kaliningrad, the place chosen by Rubchinskiy to present his collection.
In the backstage, these models, along with others who have made similar trips through the entire former Soviet Union, draw a raw and stark silhouette of young contemporary Russia.
