Back to school with Rihanna – Fenty x Puma FW17
Everything you need to know about the show
March 7th, 2017
After the Parisian debut last season, inspired by Marie Antoinette, Rihanna is back to make Paris Fashion Week hotter with her Fenty x Puma FW17 collection. Here's everything you should know about it.
#1 The invite
Considering that the collection is inspired by American colleges, the invite just had to be a detention card, including varsity pins.
#2 Location
In line with the college-theme, the show took place inside the suggestive Bibliothèque Nationale de France, using the reading tables, with books and desk lights, as catwalk. The dream of every rebel students!
#3 Front-Row
The guests of the show had to be as special as the event. In addition to the Parisian élite, among the crowd there were also the rapper Future, Dj Mustard, Cara Delevingne and Selma Hayek.
#4 Soundtrack
The soundtrack of the show was an explosive mix of reworked cult-songs and modern club hits, like “Happy Go Sucky Fucky” and “I Fink You Freaky” by Die Antwoord, “Bad Girls” by M.I.A., who closed the show, and also a cover of “Creep” by Radiohead.
#5 The clothes
The Fenty x Puma FW17 collection was a revisiting of the traditional college uniforms with streetwear vibes. Rihanna breaks the school rules (her problems with school when she was a teen are now well-known), by wearing her models with deconstructed tartan suits, sporty uniforms who play with proportions and measures of the clothes, including preppy Polo, nylon tracksuits and very-high boxer boots. And where there is a squad, there is also fans: so cap, over-size cardigan and cropped top with the team emblem on them were inevitable, in this case with the “F” of Fenty.
Go Rihanna, go!
