Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?
Especially when it comes to any creative career I think there have been more cons than pros. As a styling student, work changed drastically, having to be adapted to digital format. During this time the positive and supportive attitude from teachers has definitely been a big help.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
This quarantine has been, still is and will be an issue for the industry, it has become a crisis that everyone is having to recover from. This being said, talking on the big scheme of things, if this “industry” keeps on going the way it has been, much worse consequences will come. Feeling vulnerable to something that’s bigger than us should help rearrange the hierarchy of our priorities. We have been living in a self-destructive system, and I think it's well overdue to become responsible for our actions. I see this as an opportunity to see things in a different way. An example of change; Gucci announcing they will no longer be a part of the fashion’s four seasons. Much better changes can come if we start somewhere.
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
The fact that being creative in this situation comes as a challenge has been a motivation. What inspired me is a new way of working, a creative survival. During this time I discovered my interest in the scanner, I know it might sound odd, but this discovery has contributed something new to my work process. Overall I think we realized about the importance of creative expression as a way to cope.
