Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?
The pros are definitely that you have more time in a day to combine university work with other activities, however, the con is the lack of human contact. I am lucky to get to know the majority of my teachers and classmates before the video classes, but even like this, the conversations and relationships feel rather empty. It is hard to transmit the body language and genuine reactions of people behind the screen.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
I don’t believe in the worst. I believe in creativity and reaction time. Although quarantine will obviously impact the industry, I think the smartest and inventive ones will survive. Thus, speaking of worst consequences, many brands will become bankrupt and disappear, but again, I do not think the quarantine is to blame directly. Although it is “the worst”, it also means an opportunity. There will be more space and opportunities for other upcoming brands, that had too much competition before.
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
Inspiration is an interesting concept. In my personal experience, I rarely find it if I look for it on purpose. Best way to find it is to have a habit of constantly updating yourself with new information and news of different types. If you work with fashion, for example, do not research just about fashion, but also try understanding gardening, engineering, psychology, etc.. Your brain can’t generate creative ideas if your brain always receives the same information.
