Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?
In my perspective, the biggest advantage of online classes is the flexibility. You can build a routine around your classes and not the other way around. Online classes in this day and age, can help you to improve many of your project management skills like managing your own time, working remotely with a team or completing projects virtually on a deadline. The great thing is that you can translate all of these skills to your future job! On the other side, online classes miss that social element and peer-to-peer interaction which I think it’s essential when you are a design student.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
Although this crisis might bring terrible social and economical repercussions, I think it will also create a precedent for Fashion and Design Industries to look inside some of their faulty systems. Today more than ever everyone has been quick to address the major flaws of the current state of these industries, because there are (and there has been for a long time) a better way to do things. I think we can take this challenge as an opportunity for design to respond responsibly to this new dialogue with our changing world.
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
Lately, I have been listening to a lot of podcasts and reading a lot of interviews with designers/creatives. Publications like Apartmento and other online platforms such as Nowness have helped me to keep my inspiration afloat.
