The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
During the quarantine, many people couldn't work: some of them have been put in layoff, some others lost their jobs, but all of them struggled to earn the money they needed to keep their family alive. This is the top priority for everybody. Fashion companies and in general all the companies related to the world of design were not considered and they didn't sell their collections, so they are struggling with huge economical damages. Still I have trust that our field will rise up again, because often shopping often means satisfaction and relax. Furthermore, we jumped into a new summer season without even noticing it, so many people will need to update their closets. I am always hoping for having back our normality as soon as possible.
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
For anyone like me who is attending an Academy or that might want to take this path in the future, creativity must always resist. In the lockdown, though, we have the chance to look around us and every object can become an inspiration. For example, looking to the leaves on your garden I had the idea to design a dress that was modeled with all those colors.
