Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?
Fortunately, after a first moment of experimentation, online classes took off. We had all the support we needed. Our school has been capable of adapting to this particular situation and it granted us (students of Fashion Design), especially the ones who are graduating, a huge support. They gave us a mannequin, a sewing machine, fabrics and templates, in case we didn't have them. I think that one pro is that we have been studying in a "safe place", where you don't feel the pressure or you don't fear your schoolmates' judgement. Talking about the cons, I admit that I am a lazy person and it is difficult for me to find the right hints to study, so I faced many blank nights to keep up with my homeworks.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
The consequences of this crisis are already under the sun. From the unemployment to the layoff for many workers, to the delays of materials and paychecks. Many industries are not paying their workers, who need money to survive. It will be very hard to find a job in the next future, and the competition will be cruel!
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
As a creative, every moment can be important to find the right inspiration. Coronavirus forced us to give us time, whether we use it to think or to find new interests, or maybe just to finally watch that old series that has always been pending on our watch list. This time is useful to give us answers and creativity just makes answers concrete.
