Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. How did your school react to the state of emergency? In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of online classes?
I feel very comfortable following the theoretical classes online, they allow me to concentrate and sometimes record them for later review. The workshops have been heavily penalized, it is essential for us fashion students to have a direct dialogue with the professors and to use the machines that the university offers us.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the state of quarantine and social distancing. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what do you think the worst consequences of this crisis will be?
One of the worst consequences of this crisis could be a recovery in fast fashion, which has been declining over the last year. Despite the bankruptcy of Forever 21 and the closure of some H&M stores, I am afraid that consumers will only look at saving money without caring about the environmental and social impact.
Your work is built on creativity. While we’re all in quarantine, what is your solution to keep on being creative? Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
Creativity is also the ability to develop solutions, in these months my projects have been a real stimulus that has allowed me to move forward despite everything had stopped. The wonderful world of the internet lets me always know new things without leaving home, starting from social networks to the vast amount of online archives, the secret is to keep on doing research.
