Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?
Online courses immediately started out with the new directives and, at the very beginning, it was almost pleasant to follow them. I might sound a little selfish, but I enjoyed my coffee much more knowing that I didn't have to be on a rush to take the bus. It had no price. On the same spot, being realistic, there are much cons than pros and they are all about the lack of interconnection with my teachers and my schoolmates. I miss the dynamics of a real class, the work on team that is a huge part of my learning; doing the same work while being far makes it feel incomplete. Still, despite the teachers are doing their best, online classes become hard when the subject is pretty practical and our professors can talk to us only through a screen. Furthermore, we are forced to work without the tools that we have at school.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
Even if everybody is suffering from the consequences of isolation, the most afflicted are the small industries and activities that needed each other to be supported in their productions and distribution: they will have to start again, following a long period of inactivity. This general slow down afflicted not only big brands, but also all the emerging creative labs.
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
I keep an open mind, I keep on searching. It is important to rediscover the daily spaces, sounds and noises that we got used to; we have to be curious to ourselves and to everything that surrounds us.
