Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?
The Coronavirus emergency forced all the schools to immediately change their educational plans. The modality that everybody chose was the only one possible: online classes. This kind of choice is not very good for schools in general, because in school it is very important the human contact between teachers and students, but also between students themselves. In our case, IED soon activated online courses, most of which are very interactive, that allowed us to keep learning in the most constructive and positive way. In my opinion, online courses have been mostly efficient, even if it's clear that something has gone missing in the most practical parts of our learning.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?
If it is true that difficult times force to make a further step in terms of inventive and creativity (for example, the social distance forces to re-invent the interior places of every commercial activity) it is also true that this crisis will also lead us to a dramatic resizing of investments and to a hard lack of job opportunities. As a consumer, I fear that we are going to loose economical health and the variety of the offer.
Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
It is, indeed. My job is built on creativity and in these past few months I felt the need to find the more hints I could in every angle of my house: the terrace of my building has been a fantastic place to meditate and practice my creativity. Some online classes have been really stimulating, as some video-calls with my friends, along with some cheering with a good glass of wine. Everything new I managed to do in this lockdown gave me new hints. Where do I find my creativity? I think that when you surround yourself with love and you are able to cultivate it well, you reach a level of happiness and calmness of your mind that can help you in staying creative.
