Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. How did your school react to the state of emergency? In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of online classes?
In my institute from the beginning we started with distance working, a new approach for everyone, but in some cases very useful; because the concentration is higher, and the comparison is immediate. What we missed, of course, is the human relationship, with the teacher and especially with the class. And this used to make the lessons more readable and also more stimulating. In our case, in fact, being with others is important, you share ideas, advice and points of view; we can understand each other immediately with a sketch, without having problems with the connection.
The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the state of quarantine and social distancing. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what do you think the worst consequences of this crisis will be?
The crisis we are experiencing has had great effects on the fashion world, the presentations of new collections and new projects will have to be postponed. In my opinion this will lead to a general slowdown and probably to a recycling of past seasons.
Your work is built on creativity. While we’re all in quarantine, what is your solution to keep on being creative? Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
Creativity and fantasy do not stop, they can and must continue to run free. I believe that we must not let ourselves be knocked down by these restrictions, we must go and seek inspiration in our minds by thinking of something new, something different. I find my ideas everywhere, I collect images, magazines, pieces of paper, I watch movies; in these cases everything, every detail can become an element to work with.
