How has your everyday-life changed? What do you do to fulfill your day?
It is important to remember that everyone will respond and react to this situation differently. Some will try to ignore it. Some will actively fight it, and some might use it to their own benefit. I personally believe I am choosing to accept reality and the current circumstances. I try to continue to do the activities I normally would, but instead in a quarantined environment. I do home home workouts, watch documentaries, and put in my hours for class and my personal growth in art and design. These are all activities that I used to do on a day to day basis, and I am still able to do these things. There are accompanying challenges of course. I will put it like this, to learn without a library, to draw from life without life to draw from, and to learn from observation, when societies come to a halt, are all difficult tasks.
Your work is built on creativity. While we’re all in quarantine, what is your solution to keep on being creative? Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?
Creativity, I believe, is inspired from your observations of reality. In a time where you are limited in the ways in which you can observe reality, I believe it is important to explore new creative outlets. If you have your own privacy in quarantine, feel free to just let loose as you have no expectations or social pressure. Feel free to explore new creative outlets. Make videos, make short films, produce art, because no one has to see, and more importantly no one will have to know. You might like something you made and learn more about yourself. You can find that this limitation will allow you to grow more if you just look in the right places. Also keep in mind that with this pandemic arises an opportunity for designers to do something. Designers are thinkers, and effective communicators, so what sort of revolutionary idea will come out of this pandemic?
What is your biggest fear right now?
I am still very afraid of heights. In regards to the current situation however, I would say that my biggest fear is that people will not learn from this event. I think the emotions of the people can be manipulated and used as a means to indoctrinate populations, and develop hatred against one another. This is what I fear.
What will you do once all of this is over?
To be honest, I will probably just keep studying and doing my thing. I will probably go outside on the second day free of quarantine, as everyone else will go outside the first day. Then I will stay inside again for a while in case something new pops up.
