'The Art of the Brick' lands in Milan
@ Fabbrica Del Vapore
October 17th, 2016
The Art of the Brick, the exhibition dedicated to the most famous multicoloured bricks in the world, arrives in Milan and it promises to be fantastic. We're talking about a travelling exhibition that includes more than a hundred LEGO sculptures made by American artist Nathan Sawaya.
The city that never sleeps, the glittering New York City, is where the LEGO artist who will showcase his works at Fabbrica del Vapore is from, and his career in the art world began in a pretty unconventional way. Sawaya, in fact, actually begins to make his way as a lawyer, but in 2004 he abandoned his profession to enter plastic bricks heaven as a "Professional LEGO builder", certified by the LEGO Group.
His first solo show was in 2007 and was an instant success. His works, considered an unusual point of intersection between Surrealism and Pop Art, are in fact already part of some of the most important art collections in North America.
At the exhibition in Milan, we will be able to see some playful reproductions of worldly famous artworks, such as Da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' and 'The Thinker' by Rodin, but also some exclusives, for what it's set to be a huge exhibition where over one million bricks are used.
The exhibition The Art of the Brick will be held from October 19 to January 29, 2017, at Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan.
