Gus Van Sant's work on display in Turin
@ Museo del cinema
October 6th, 2016
After the success at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris, ICONS, the exhibition dedicated to Gus Van Sant’s career curated by Matthieu Orléan lands in Turin today.
The spaces of the Cinema Museum of the Italian city will host unpublished short films, original polaroids, paintings, preparatory drawings for feature films, behind the scenes videos and editings with the most celebrated sequences of his films, in a multidisciplinary itinerary aimed at exploring the complexity of the American filmmaker’s work.
Gus Van Sant, among the most interesting directors of the American independent scene, combines existential and unconventional themes to an impeccable photography, although his productions are often low-cost. Among his most famous titles Elephant (2003), winner at Cannes Film Festival for best film and best direction, My Own Private Idaho (1991) starring young River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves, and Last Days (2005), dedicated to the last days of Kurt Cobain’s life.
Gus Van Sant – ICONS is on display at the Museum of Cinema in Turin from October 6, 2016 to January 9, 2017. For more info: www.museocinema.it.
