Top 10 Summer Movies
From The Swimming Pool to Steve Zissou
July 4th, 2016
Summer. The moment of amusement and relaxation par excellence. Numerous author movies, over the years, have been able to render the essence of this magic season on the big screen.
Not only lighthearted stories, though: La Piscine (1969), starring Alain Delon and Romy Schneider, culminates in a tragic outcome. In L’Avventura (1960), the Aeolian Islands are the background to a mysterious disappearance, while in The Beach (2000) Leonardo DiCaprio leaves for a long journey in the pursuit of unconditional pleasure, running into several traps.
Summer becomes a stage of transition: you take stock of the season which has just ended and make plans for September.
We selected 10 iconic movies set in Summer. The background, needless to say, is almost always the sea.
