Cindy Sherman Screen Queens
@ Metro Pictures, NYC
May 5th, 2016
Cindy Sherman is a conceptual artist who has focused the lens of the camera on herself for over 35 years, creating curious self-portraits, which probably contain, each one individually, all the nuances of her personality, from the beginning of her career until today.
Today Sherman chooses to picture herself as a stereotypical woman/actress from the '20s, including all style details and the hottest scenes of those years, recreating many characters of a silent film that has only one protagonist: herself.
Her latest project, displayed at Metro Pictures in New York from May 5th to June 11, is a tribute to the beauty of advancing age, and the charm of the artistic maturity of a woman with a conceptual soul.
