Top models become art muses
Portraits by Francesco Clemente
March 15th, 2016
When you think of women you think of beauty, harmony: it's like thinking of muses and their perfect shapes. Who better than top models can be defined as muses nowadays?
Neapolitan artist and portrait painter Francesco Clemente, one of the protagonists of the contemporary art movement of the Transavanguardia - theorised by critic and art historian Achille Bonito Oliva, who whishes for a return of manual skills after years dominated by conceptual art - chose some of the most popular international supermodels as his subjects, portraying them using his peculiar artistic language.
A style that embraces Transavanguardia, with a cubist influence: each model has her own canvas and colours and each painting is the purest example of a totally subjective beauty.
