When politicians become art
A project by Mark Duffy
February 5th, 2016
During a political campaign it's common to find on the street posters "retouched" by young humorists aka pseudo street artists. Some other times these posters are left there consumed by the sun, rain, snow and wind, becoming almost paper fossils.
Irish photographer Mark Duffy used these posters to create a book, mixing their fragments with nonsense details, giving birth to grotesque and funny pictures, with a result which is almost pleasing to the eye.
We talk about them, we laugh at them, we get angry because of them: politicians are the subject of many discussions, and now they're also the protagonists of a very kitsch art project.
