Collection of found objects
Artworks by Saskia de Brauw
February 4th, 2016
I've always loved those people who manage to intercept beauty even where it's well hidden. It's a sign of inner richness, as if the inner world of those who observe carefully could actually come out.
One of those people is top model Saskia de Brauw, who recently debuted as an artist. Born in Holland, she started her modelling career very young and she suspended it for a while to attend an art school. During this period she developed a work which incorporates elements of photography, performance art, as well as text and graphics.
Her work - published in the catalogue The accidental fold - is all about the concepts of space and time, and her philosophy is that you can easily discover beauty and richness while watching below... very low, like on the asphalt on which we walk.
Her compositions consist of objects seemingly unrelated to each other, that Saskia found around the world during her travels. Since she often works in the offices of prestigious fashion brands, we're not surprised by the presence of a thread belonging to a Chanel dress, or the peel of a tangerine, eaten probably while waiting for a show.
