Imagine feeling on your skin sensations aroused by a book. An evolution of reading that does not stop the e-book. After the revolution of the Google Glass, here is a new step forward.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed "Sensory Fiction" a book accompanied by sensors capable of generating in the reader the emotions inspired by the words of the book.
The cover features 150 LEDs that change color and intensity to reflect the mood and feelings of the reader. The part to wear modifies the temperature of the skin and through vibration , influence the heart rate and blood circulation localized .
With a specific compression system , emphasizing suspense and feelings in response to specific emotions recognized in the reader. For the moment this is not a project for sale but for a way to experience the connection between fiction , science, and digital tools . The book is used as an experimental prototype "The girl who was plugged in" the science fiction writer James Tiptree Jr chosen because it covers a wide range of situations and emotions .
