God Save The Teens: Elijah Majeski

Elijah Majeski si vede come una sorta di Peter Pan. Nelle sue foto adora catturare la giovinezza e l'innocenza. Ritraggono un infanzia spensierata; bambini che giocano agli indiani, alle fate, fingendo di essere streghe, regine, vampiri e leoni. Elijah è nato nella periferia di Metro-Detroit in Michigan nel 1994. All' età di 12 anni i suoi genitori gli regalarono una fotocamera point-and-shoot digitale. Da li in poi iniziò a fotografare sopratutto le sue sorelline più piccole, che oggi hanno 9 e 12 anni o i fratellini dei suoi amici. Con le sue foto intende portare lo spettatore nella propria infanzia e nel passato di quegli anni pieni di fantasia. Lui ama le storie di ogni genere, in particolare "Peter Pan", "The Lost Boys" e "Where the Wild Things Are". Certe foto sono scatti spontanei, altre invece sono pensate e preparate. Avvolte prima di scattare una foto passa delle settimane a raccogliere le idee e creare i costumi e gli oggetti per completare le scene. Con il cartone crea le corone per le regine e le spade per i cavalieri.

Through his photographs Elijah Majeski has become a Peter Pan of sorts. In his pictures he likes to capture and worships youth and innocence. He likes to portray a carefree childhood, children playing Indians, fairies, pretending to be witches, queens, vampires and lions. Elijah was born in the suburbs of Metro-Detroit, Michigan in 1994. At the age of 12 years his parents got him a point-and-shoot digital camera. From then on he began to photograph especially his smaller sisters, who are now 9 and 12 years old, or the younger brothers of his friends. With his photos he wants to bring back the audience to it's childhood and those past years full of phantasy.He loves stories of all kinds, in particular  "Peter Pan," "The Lost Boys" and "Where the Wild Things Are". Some shoots are completely spontaneous, while others are carefully designed and prepared. Sometimes he spends a lot of time thinking and gathering references and creating the ideas. It can take anywhere from an hour to a month, and then he usually start making props and organizing costumes as soon as the gathering is done. He likes to create crowns and headdresses out of grass and other things he finds in the yard waste bin of his garden.
