God Save The Teens: Alyson Romanok

Alyson Romanok nata nel 1993 a East Brunswick nel New Jersey, due anni fa si trasferì a New York dove incominciò a studiare fotografia al Fashion Institute of Technology. Le sue prime foto le fece con una vecchia macchina analogica che ogni tanto portava a scuole e in giro. Siccome le piaceva fare fotografie comprò una  digital SLR. Oggi ride pensando a come una spesa così innocua le abbia cambiato la vita completamente. Si sa che i fotografi scrivono con la luce. Infatti Alyson dice che la sua più forte fonte di ispirazione è il modo in cui la luce cade sugli oggetti. Al momento lei e il suo ragazzo Johnny De Guzman, anche lui fotografo, stanno lavorando ad un progetto assieme. Si fotografano a vicenda cercando di raccontare e documentare la loro relazione e la loro vita quotidiana tramite delle immagini. Tra non molto vorrebbero creare una zine, che raccoglie le loro fotografie e tratta del loro amore. Alyson è anche membro del blog Vans Girls per il quale scrive e fotografa.

Alyson Romanok was born in 1993 in East Brunswick in New Jersey. Two years ago she moved to New York where she began to study photography at the 'Fashion Institute of Technology. The first pictures she shot were with an old analog camera that she occasionally brought to school and around. As she liked taking pictures she thought: “Hey, I want a digital SLR. This is fun”. Now she likes to laugh at how something so simplistic had such a big effect on her life. We know that photographers write and draw with light. In fact, Alyson says her biggest influence is the way light falls on things. At the moment Alyson and her boyfriend Johnny De Guzman, who is also a photographer, are documenting their long distance relationship and toying with the idea of making a zine that combine their photographs to tell their story. Alyson is also a Blog contributor for Vans Girls for which she writes and photographs.
