The art of the 90s to save the marine ecosystems of Tulum
October 15th, 2021
The association Parley for the Oceans has announced a collaboration with the American artist Kenny Scharf whose result is a collection of 12 hand-painted one-off surfboards. Proceeds from the sale of the 12 boards will go to Parley's Global Clean Up Network with a focus on Tulum, Mexico. Scharf said:
«I have decided to support Parley for the Oceans because I am obsessed with plastic in our oceans and I jumped at the chance to do anything with other people that are also sharing that obsession».
The surfboards signed by Scharf combine the world of art and surfing, emphasizing the importance of the surf community for the protection of ocean ecosystems. In addition to Tulum, Parley Mexico has been operating since 2017 in several locations on the Yucatan Peninsula and works side by side with over 30 local groups, government institutions, universities, social organizations and the private sector.
All information on the sale of the 12 surfboards customized by Kenny Scharf for Parley for the Oceans are available on the official website of the association.
