The first drop in the collection Off-White™ x Ginori 1735
Dimenticate il servizio da tè della nonna
September 5th, 2021
Off-White™ has collaborated with the historic Tuscan brand Ginori 1735 for a limited edition collaborative porcelain service. The porcelain set is only the first chapter of a multi-part collaboration that will extend throughout 2022 and that will mix the centuries-old tradition of the Manifattura Ginori with the contemporary luxury-street language of Virgil Abloh. The idea behind the project is to update and make current ancient forms through a contamination with contemporary branding elements such as graffiti art – a contrast through which the timeless quality of design fully emerges. In the words of Abloh himself:
«L'incontro tra la modernità di un logo e dell'arte dei graffiti unito all’inconfondibile heritage Ginori 1735 è la dimostrazione che il buon design può vivere per sempre».
The set includes crockery with flat plates, serving plates, a teapot and a set of saucers for tea cups – with the design of porcelain obtained from the archives of Ginori 1735 and in particular from the Antica Doccia line whose arched shapes are inspired by late-Baroque Florentine silverware but are lightened and made almost minimalistic by their total white look, decorated with black writings. The collection will be presented inside the Off-White store™ in Milan during the Design Week through an immersive installation: the objects of Off-White™ Home will decorate the entire floor, transforming it into an idealized apartment.
The first drop of the Off-White™ x Ginori 1735 collection will be available, as well as in the Milan store in via Bigli and in the Ginori 1735 flagship, also on the brand's official website and on Farfetch and at a series of Off-White boutiques™ selected all over the world.
