The house hidden in the rocky bays of Greece

Architecture blends with nature in Mold's studio project

The house hidden in the rocky bays of Greece Architecture blends with nature in Mold's studio project
Hidden among the rocks of the Cyclades Islands, nCAVED is the latest project by the Greek architecture firm Mold. Designed to disguise itself in the natural landscape, the house is carved into the rock, developing internally and disappearing within the panorama.

The house was designed as a terrace positioned on a steep slope. The drywall defines the closed spaces, giving shape to the courtyards and above all it protects from the north winds, thus creating a set of internal and external spaces in harmony with the natural shape of the slope. For the construction, materials such as stone and iron were chosen, combined with the cement mortar floors to give the house an earthy colour that blended into that of its natural setting.

In addition to combining traditional elements with modern architecture, nCAVED was designed to have a low impact on nature. The house is equipped with a rainwater collection system used for irrigation, while edible plants grow on the roofs. Energy consumption is also extremely low thanks to the use of renewable energies
