Casa Congo's sustainable vinyl record
An exclusive artwork that will help defend Nicaragua's wildlife
December 4th, 2020
Few countries in the world have the same biodiversity as Nicaragua – a country where, unfortunately, poaching and the black market of animals remain urgent issues to this day. To defend the country's wildlife, and specifically, the nests of turtles often raided by poachers who resell eggs for thirty dollars each, Casa Congo movement has created a unique multidisciplinary artwork: an eco-sustainable vinyl record the proceeds of which will be entirely donated to Nicaragua's wildlife protection programs.
The vinyl contains ambient recordings of the Chacocente Nature Reserve and has two sides, one named Shamanic Chill and another named Jungle Techno. The record was created by injecting a sustainable plastic material into a special mould leading to an energy saving of 60% compared to a conventional vinyl.
