RM Sotheby's, one of the main auction houses dedicated to luxury cars, will list three models of Alfa Romeo Bertone B.A.T (the acronym for Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica) on the occasion of the Contemporary Art Evening. The three concept cars will form a single lot and, according to estimates, the sale price will reach up to 20 million dollars. Rob Myers, president of RM Sotheby's, explained:
To be able to offer the Alfa Romeo B.A.T cars as a single lot triptych at auction is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. […] they have never been offered for sale as a united trio, and so the offering of this design triptych may never happen again.
The three Alfa Romeo Bertone B.A.T. they were designed between 1953 and 1955 by Franco Scaglione and the famous Carrozzeria Bertone. Although they were never mass-produced, the prototypes anticipated style innovations that would become the main inspiration for all subsequent industrial design. After being sold separately and "reunited" in 1989, they were purchased by a private who restored them and exhibited them at various exhibitions, such as the 2017 Blackhawk Museum in Danville.
