Virgil Abloh has customised Drake's private jet
And signed it with “c/o ABLOH ENGINEERING®”
March 30th, 2020
Over the weekend Virgil Abloh and Drake shared on their social media channels the first photos of the makeover that the creative director of Louis Vuitton designed for the rapper's private jet, the so-called Air Drake. The aircraft is a Boeing 767 Cargojet purchased last June by Drake for two hundred million dollars. Abloh painted it entirely blue with a pattern of clouds that closely resembles both the cover of Drake's 2013 album "Nothing Was The Same" and the main visual theme of Louis Vuitton's latest FW20 show, in which the set and several items featured the same pattern in an all-over print.
In addition to presenting the branding of Cargojet and OVO, the inscription "Air Drake" is printed on the engines while Abloh (who has a degree in civil engineering) has left his signature on the sides of the fuselage in his usual industrial style, with the inscription "c/o ABLOH ENGINEERING®". Abloh himself, however, in presenting the photos of the jet appeared aware of the problems that an aircraft of the same colour as the sky presents – not least the tail number of the aircraft, which is not readable given the colour of the fuselage, and fixed-based operator, that is, the airport service centre that provides equipment and facilities for air traffic, from the reception of passengers, to ground services for as well as the sale of fuel.
