Cinema Italia & more is a collection of shots of Italian cinema’s prominent personalities portrayed with spontaneity and lightness by the Italian photographer Simon.
Find it out now on Edicola, on its new issue the face.
I started working with fashion and advertising campaigns, but then I started focusing more on portraits. I think that probably looking for the "person" more than the gown it’s a thing I’m more congenial with. I've always loved photographers from the documentary photography, Stephen Shore, William Egglestone, Weegee, Robert Frank, as well as 90-2000's photographers like Juergen Teller, Wolgang Tillmans and Terry Richardson. This is the path from which I started.
A lot of the images in this portfolio belong to the Cinema Italia project, which I have been working for over three years and which book will be released in September. Inspired by a series of shots by Jurgen Teller for Oscar nominees, I've been keen to portray Italian cinema in a different way than it had always been, light, ironic, irreverent ... as much as possible, I always try To find a complicity and affinity with the subject I have before.
