Talking about The relations with Mattias Björklund
The interview series with Edicola #2 protagonists
March 22nd, 2017
The second issue of Edicola revolves around the theme of relations declined according to the particular visions of the seven artists chosen to represent them. The first that we present is Mattias Björklund, the Swedish author of the editorial Please, take a seat.
#1 What is the first picture that comes to your mind when you hear the word "relations"?
"True contact between beings is established only by mute presence, by apparent non-communication, by that mysterious and wordless exchange which resembles inward prayer" - EM. Cioran
#2 You have chosen to pursue a creative career. What kind of relationship do you have with your job?
A fairly uncomplicated relationship when working. More complicated when I’m not, then I use to miss working.
#3 How did you feel about having to talk about the topic of relations? What's really yours in this project?
"No matter which way we go, it is no better than any other. It is all the same whether you achieve something or not, have faith or not, just as it is all the same whether you cry or remain silent". -EM. Cioran
#4 The web makes everything affordable for everyone. Faster and faster and therefore often easier to forget. How would you define the relationship between creativity and web?
I agree to some extend that its easier to forget, on the other hand, what we do for the web remains online forever. But that's just the path it looks to take. I find that my creativity can be even more open-minded when working on something for the web, sometimes it can remove the pressure to perform or deliver something extraordinary, instead, I just do what feels right.
#5 Paper vs digital...
I think print will stay as the platform it is today along the digitalized media. I would be surprised if it didn't.
