March 20th, 2017
You may not know this, but this weekend has opened a major exhibition at The Hepworth Wakefield curated by Jonathan Anderson and Jamie Hawkesworth.
Celebrated as one of the most innovative designers of the contemporary scene, Anderson has worked for two years to design Disobedient Bodies, a personal selection of sculptures, design furniture, and clothing that analyze the various facets of the human form through recent centuries in an experience between art, fashion, and design.
"What does Yohji Yamamoto is just as important as Barbara Hepworth. You can Achieve sculptural form in clothing"
- Jonathan Anderson about Disobedient Bodies
The exhibition winds through the entire space of the gallery interiors specially created by Tom Emerson and Stephanie Macdonald of the architecture firm 6a, to ensure a complete and contrasting experience.
Disobedient Bodies presents works by some of the greatest exponents of modern art scene as Jean Arp, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Sarah Lucas, put in direct dialogue with fashion garnments from designers like Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons and Helmut Lang.
Disobedient Bodies will be open until June 18, 2017 at The Hepworth Wakefield, absolutely not to be missed.
